Poor road networks in the remote tribal and mining affected villages act as a major hinderance in availability and accessibility of basic goods and services related to healthcare, education, backward and forward linkages to markets for sale and purchase of commodities which ultimately affects the livelihood and economic upliftment of the people residing there. ... The construction of new roads and bridges of smaller length funded by Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) under the Rural Connectivity sector is playing a crucial role in improving transportation infrastructure for these areas by connecting the unconnected habitations to the other major roads leading to block headquarters or urban habitations. Such projects have helped in enhancing mobility, reducing travel time and boosting the socio-economic development of the of the remote tribal and mining affected villages. Under this initiative, OMBADC has sanctioned six major projects with a total approved cost of ₹550.67 crore which is supporting in the construction of 219 roads and 27 bridges. These projects are being implemented across five districts namely Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and Angul aiming to connect previously unconnected communities and promote inclusive growth in the underserved regions.
